"ACTIVE BONNET" EMULATION KIT
MAZDA MX5 ND, FIAT 124 E ABARTH 124
THIS KIT IS INTENDED FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF TRACKDAY / CLOSED ROAD COURSE USE WHERE NO PEDESTRIANS ARE INVOLVED, DISABLING THE "ACTIVE BONNET" SYSTEM IS A TAMPERING OF CAR SECURITY SYSTEMS.
1) Open front bonnet and find the bonnet poppers connectors, they are near the bonnet hinges and of a bold yellow.
2) Disconnect the car harness side connector depressing the white part and pulling, then connect our emulator.
We suggest two ways to complete the install:
1) Put the wiring against the car harness and block the emulator with a cable tie:
In this photo the zip tie is on the car connector, but you can zip tie our emulator to the wiring harness, letting you connect and disconnect the emulator on the fly (for trackday/road use) to revert to the stock system in a minute.
OR
For those who want/need to remove the bonnet poppers or disable them permanently:
1) Unhook che black clip holding Popper connector to the bracket (just press retaining wigs with fingers):
2) Unhook the black clip from popper connector using a small screwdriver or similar:
3) Find the elongated slot on wheelarch:
4) Insert the plastic clip as shown:
5) Hook the emulator on the clip:
Start the engne and let it rest on idle for a pair of minutes, if installation went ok no check light will show up.
